Teaching in the second semester
Course contents :  
1. Description of the sources of pollution and the pollutants. Significance.
2. Analytical aspects of the characterisation and the determination of pollutants. Metrology in the environmental analysis techniques, applications and quality assurance.
3. Sample collection, initial treatment and general procedures in chemical analysis of ecological materials (soils, plants, waters, ...)
4. Sampling methods, pretreatment, analytical methods for wastes, sludges, sediments.
5. Pollution monitoring in the environment. Standardized methods measuring gazeous and particulates pollutants.
Learning outcomes of the course :  
Initiate the student into the principal methods of the environmental analytical chemistry based of ECC purposes, laws, decrees... about environmental quality.
After completing the course the student is expected to
- evaluate the results of an environmental and chemical analysis;
- develop a practival know-how in the science of the environment.
