Course contents :  
Introduction to the external history of the Dutch language (i.e. history of Dutch in it's social context). In particular, the course explains the origins of the Dutch language, the Old-Dutch period (8th-12th century), and the Middle-Dutch period (1150-1550).

Understanding of written and spoken Dutch.
If necessary, individual link to a curriculum course:
Prior: Dutch language I (BAC 1)
Subsequently: History of the Dutch Language (BAC 3).
