Course contents :  
This course explores the field of victimology through lectures on a.o. the following themes: - The history of and movements within the field of victimology. - Victim surveys and multiple victimization. - The status of victims and victimization in contemporary society. - The impact of victimization, secondary victimization and victims' needs. - European policies on victims of crime - The position of the victim in criminal procedure and possibilities to obtain reparation. - Victim support developed in Belgium. - Evaluation of victim policies in Belgium. - A few topical themes such as family violence or sexual abuse in relationships of authority, especially in the Church.

Gain a good basic knowledge of the field of victimology.
