Course contents :  
This course is an introductory course in the field of penology ans the questions related to the punishment. It is linked and integrated with other courses related to punishment and punishment execution.
Learning outcomes of the course :  
- Know the different senses that a given penalty is assigned to have or reach
- Master the major works and thinking in the the penoloogy field
- Be able to analys any given legislation or criminal policy
- Know the different penlaties that exist within the Belgian juridical system

Mandatory Jail Visit.

Recommended or required readings :  
No written support but slideshows made available to students on the virtual campus from the school of criminology.
During the lessons, several readings will be suggested.
