Course contents :  
1. Origin and general properties of pesticides and biocides
2. Introduction to toxicology and regulatory requirements for risk assessment
3. Methodology for risk assessment of chemical contaminants
4. Risk assessment : exposure of operators
5. Risk assessment : consumer exposure
6. Risk assessment for the environment (contamination of water, soil, pesticide drift, effects on non-target organisms and auxiliaries)
Learning outcomes of the course :  
At the end of this course, the student must be able :
* to know the origin of pesticides and biocides and understand the issues of chemical control in the general framework a sustainable agriculture. * to know the main properties (physico-chemical, biological, toxicological and ecotoxicological) for the risk assessment of pesticides and biocides * to adopt a methodological approach in risk assessment * to apply the mathematical models and make the calculations for estimating the exposure of operators and consumers to pesticides
