Learning outcomes of the course :
| At the end of the course, the student must know the theoretical basis related to the most common techniques of molecular biology applied to research in academia or industry.
At the end of the practical course, the student should be able to :
directly implement in the laboratory some of the techniques seen during the theoretical course such as : DNA amplification by PCR, DNA digest by restriction enzymes, cloning procedures, protein expression in heterologous systems.
interprete results from the laboratory experiments |
Prerequisites and co-requisites/ Recommended optional programme components :
- knowing of the nucleic acid structure,
- recognizing the simple molecules that compose nucleic acids. Classifying these molecules based on their properties and functions
- knowing of the gene transcription and translation mechanisms and their constitutive steps
- Knowing of the various steps of protein synthesis and modifications
Planned learning activities and teaching methods :
| The theoretical course will included numerous examples and problems to prepare the students to the final evaluation |
Mode of delivery (face-to-face ; distance-learning) :
| Lectured
Laboratory training (3 sessions) |
Recommended or required readings :
| |
Assessment methods and criteria :
| Writing test : problems involving notions and know-how acquired during theoretical courses
The practical course (laboratory trainning) will be evaluated through a final report by the student |
