Course contents :  
Introduction to the notions of heritage, (historical) monument, heritage value. Evolution through history of the attitudes towards build heritage. Theories in the 19th and 20th centuries: - conservation vs restoration in the 19th century (Ruskin, Viollet-le-Duc), - developemnt of the restauro critico (Boito, Brandi), - important charters and conventions, - integrated conservation, - the question of authenticity.
Learning outcomes of the course :  
Acquisition of the conceptual tools necessary for any reflection about heritage and for the choice of coherent options for any conservation project.
