Course contents :
The interdisciplinary approach is necessary if we want to understand relevantly the complexity of the world around us. The decree defining teachers' training (French Community, 2001) highlights the need for teachers to be skilled at disciplinary and interdisciplinary knowledge alongside team work in schools.
Learning outcomes of the course :
  • Strengthening the constitution of a disciplinary identity and the opening to other subjects.
  • Approaching and understanding some contents in a global point of view.
  • Practicing some collective skills (dialoguing, conciliating points of view, planning team work...)
  • Producing an interdisciplinary pedagogical plan.
  • Developing the necessary conditions for the success of an interdisciplinary pedagogical plan in a school.
Prerequisites and co-requisites/ Recommended optional programme components :
None.
Planned learning activities and teaching methods :
  • Theoretical talks (aims 1, 2, 5)
  • Production of a work in groups of 4 or 6 students (aims 1, 3)
  • Realization of an interdisciplinary pedagogical plan in group (aims 2, 3, 4 and 5)
Mode of delivery (face-to-face ; distance-learning) :
5 sessions of 3 hours (face-to-face)
Recommended or required readings :
A copy of the slides and a paper presenting the organisation of the course will be held available on MyUlg.
Assessment methods and criteria :
At the fifth session:
  • Presentation of the pedagogical plan taking the form of an oral presentation shown to a jury made up of didactitians and teachers.
  • Handing in of a collective paper showing synthetically the plan designed.
Work placement(s) :
