Course contents :  
The course includes 6 main chapters:
  • Diseases of the digestive and hepato-biliary system (H. Amory)
  • Diseases of the respiratory system (C. Sandersen)
  • Cardiology of the horse (H. Amory)
  • Diseases of the nervous system (H. Amory)
  • Equine neonatalogy (H. Amory)
  • Diseases of the urinary system (C. Sandersen)
Learning outcomes of the course :  
This course describes the internal medicine diseases most frequently encountered in equines. Using a problem-based approach, a differential diagnosis of the problem will be given. Therefore, the diseases will be described, with a special emphasis on the clinical signs, the risk factors, the diagnostic methods, the prognosis, and the treatment.

Semiology of companion animals and equids (1 GMV)

This theoretical course does not contain seminars or workshops but is largely illustrated by slides and videos of clinical cases and by the participation, during the 2 GMV, to the equine clinic (course VETE0451-1 (http://progcours.ulg.ac.be/cocoon/cours/VETE0451-1.html)).

Assessment methods and criteria :  
The evaluation is organised as a written examination including multiple choice questions (MCQ) and open questions. Questions concern mostly individual clinical cases.
