Companion Animal Surgery The following chapters will be presented: - Lameness evaluation - Surgical instruments - Sterilization and disinfection of surgical material - Sutures
- Wound healing and management
- Bandages
- Nutritional support of the surgical patient
- Hemostasis
Learning outcomes of the course :  
To acquire the basic knowledge needed to understand the surgical pathologies presented in GMV2.
Prerequisites and co-requisites/ Recommended optional programme components :  
General knowledge in anatomy and physiology of domestic animals.
Planned learning activities and teaching methods :  
Five practical sessions lasting 1h30 are scheduled. Practical sessions start at 8h30. Presence at the scheduled practical sessions is mandatory. Absent or late students must contact Nadine Fis (nadine.fis@ulg.ac.be). The missed session must be rescheduled in another group after confirmation with Nadine Fis. Non excused absence or delay will expose the student to be non receivable at the domestic animal surgery examination.
The evaluation of the practical sessions is a global evaluation of the participation of the student (motivation, behavior, knowledge). This evaluation will modulate the evaluation obtained at the theoretical course examination.

Courses are presented in amphitheater following the schedule.

Course notes will be available on MyUlg.
Assessment methods and criteria :  
A written exam with multiple choice questions will be organized at each exam session.
