Course contents :  
A collective work under supervision will focus on:
a) Management of emerging crop pests, development of tools for early detection, adapted to local agricultural production sectors, and in line with European standards,
b) Development of alternative methods to chemical control against major pests,
c) Application of innovative methods in genomics and proteomics for plant breeding in order to produce plant material suitable for the environment and climate,
d) Invading species and their control.
Learning outcomes of the course :  
Prepare the student to new challenges by implementing methods of crop protection suitable for society
After completing the course the student is expected to
-develop a comprehensive strategy to fight against bio-aggressors taking into account different scientific disciplines (phytopathology, entomology, phytopharmacy,...)
-select a number of scientific articles that cover some topics on insects of agronomic interest
-identify and evaluate scientific information
-present scientific information in form of written assay and oral presentation on a topic of current interest on strategies that safeguard the environment and demonstrate the ability to discuss and summarize scientific information
