Course contents :
| 1. Invertebrates and the Interactions with Environment Ecology of the animal populations Climate and its Impact on the Invertebrates Biological Rhythms and Migrations 2. Invertebrate Pests of Crops and Forests Nematodes Molluscs Arthropods : Millipedes and Mites Arthropods : Insects 3. Parasitology and pest control strategies Parasites of medical and veterinary importance Prospects for pest control. |
Learning outcomes of the course :
| To give a broad outline of biology and ecology of the Arthropods with a view to the control of the damage which they cause in Agriculture, Forestry and the Breeding (with a detailed attention for parasitology). After completing the course the student is expected to -clearly demonstrate the interaction between climatic parameters and the biology of invertebrates -prove sufficient knowledge about the biology and ecology of invertebrates -demonstrate sufficient knowledge of the physiological and molecular aspects of biological interactions in invertebrates -identify the main vectors of human and animal disease -select a number of scientific articles to cover a topic of current interest on the biology and ecology of invertebrates -identify and evaluate scientific information -present scientific information in the form of written assay and oral presentation on a topic of current interest on invertebrates and their environment and demonstrate that scientific information is well discussed and summarized |
