Course contents :
 |
| In most professions, communication is an essential task of a scientist. Indeed, scientists have to publish the results of their research (in oral or written form), write reports, introduce research proposals, summarise information etc. This course focuses on three essential means of communication: writing (report, paper), oral presentation and poster presentation. After a short theoretical introduction, each student will present a seminar based on a recent scientific paper. Students will also have to prepare a short report, based on a selected subject. |

Learning outcomes of the course :

| At the end of the course, the student will have learned how to:
- prepare an oral presentation
- prepare clear, efficient, and attractive slides
- prepare a poster
- develop critical thinking with regard to scientific literature |

Prerequisites and co-requisites/ Recommended optional programme components :

| There are no particular prerequisites, but the knowledge of PowerPoint presents an advantage. |

| Lectures, accomplishment of oral and poster presentation. |

Mode of delivery (face-to-face ; distance-learning) :
 |
| The course is organised during the 2nd quadrimester. Theoretical lectures (approx. 2 afternoons) are followed by student presentations. |

Assessment methods and criteria :

| The assessment is based on the students' seminars, the participation at the discussions and on a poster. |
