Course contents :  
This course involves a theoretical and methodological presentation of different trends and fields of the socio-anthropology of health. This will be followed by seminars on individual critical work based on literature provided (in the reading list) and proposed by the student.
Learning outcomes of the course :  
The seminar is an introduction to the socio-anthropology of health. It thus examines a few main questions and challenges which cut across the field of health from a socio-anthropological perspective. The seminar will allow students to get to know some main theoretical models and scientific pieces of work developed in the socio-anthropology of health and the sociologically analyse the discussions and current challenges in the field of health.
Prerequisites and co-requisites/ Recommended optional programme components :  
It is essential that prior to each session, students have read the texts from the reading portfolio relating to the chapter in question.
Planned learning activities and teaching methods :  
Individual work consists in choosing, analysing and criticising a scientific article or a chapter from a scientific publication in the field of the socio-anthropology of health.
Mode of delivery (face-to-face ; distance-learning) :  
The seminar takes place in two phases:
- in the first phase, five sessions will be devoted to the presentation of pieces of work and theoretical models developed in the socio-anthropology of health, followed by a discussion with students. Each session will be based on a chapter from the reading portfolio which students will have read in advance.
- in the second phase, one or more sessions (depending on the number of students) will be organised to present students' individual work, followed by a discussion involving all participants.
Recommended or required readings :  
A reading list will be given to students in the first session.
Assessment methods and criteria :  
Assessment will focus on participation in seminars on the one hand, and individual work on the other.
