Course contents :
| 1- Introduction to mass spectrometry of biopolymers.
2- Introduction to folding and non-covalent assembly
3- Special mass spectrometry techniques for the biophysical characterization of biopolymers: direct analysis of the complexes, dissociation methods, hydrogen/deuterium exchange and other chemical labeling methods, ion mobility spectrometry, ion spectroscopy.
4- Examples and generalizations in the case of proteins and nucleic acids. |
Learning outcomes of the course :
| Understand which techniques is best appropriate to a given problem, what are the limitations of the different methods, what are the underlying assumptions in the data interpretation process. |
Planned learning activities and teaching methods :
| The presential lessons require active participation and try to stimulate critical thinking. A bibliography search and its critical analysis will be requested. |
