Course contents :  
The course will include:
- The water of soil in the cycle of water
- The physical characterization of the solid phase
- The links between the humidity and the solid matrix of the unsaturated soils
- The out-flows in unsaturated environment
- The positive interstitial pressure out-flows
Learning outcomes of the course :  
The objective of the course is to allow the student to understand the concept of water retention and the water transfer in the soil.
After completing the course the student is expected to
- to characterize the soil water state and to determine the retention curve.
- to fear the concept of the positive interstitial pressure out-flows through the Darcy law and his limits of application
Assessment methods and criteria :  
Oral examination (50%)
Personal report (50%)
