Learning outcomes of the course :  
The course aims at making acquire the tools necessary to analyze the operation of farming systems in tropical areas and to identify and implement actions allowing the improvement of the performances of these systems.
At the end of the course, the student must be able to:
- understand the concept of system and its applications in agriculture.
- apprehend the operation of a farm as a system.
- appreciate the importance of the various factors which condition the operation of the farming systems in tropical areas.
- determine the characteristics of the cropping and the livestock systems of a farm and to quantify their economic performances.
- establish a typology of farms using qualitative survey methods.
- propose solutions allowing the improvement of the performances of the farming systems met in tropical areas.

Analysis of economic perfomances cropping systems, livestock systems and farming systems in tropical regions.
