Course contents :  
The overall objective of the course is to deconstruct some stereotypes associated with the concept of aging. More concretely, various problems related to or associated with normal aging (senescence) are considered, as: (1) the origins and characteristics of the aging population (demographics), (2) physiological aging, (3) the questioning of psychometric model of cognitive decline, (4) current conceptions about the evolution of the personality and the emotions, (5) the description of some theories explaining how a person adapts to his aging and maintains a good quality of life, and (6) the description of some transitional periods occuring during old age like sexuality, retirement, health, loneliness, rehousing in institution, death, etc.
Learning outcomes of the course :  
to have some theoritical and methodological knowledges in connection with the present knowledges about normal ageing.
