| Introduction to the main scientific analytical techniques used in the study of cultural heritage objects. |

Learning outcomes of the course :
 |
| The purpose of this course is to show the interest of the physical and chemical analytical methods for the caracterisation of cultural heritage objects. The main techniques will be explained: optical (IR, visible, UV, Raman,...), X-rays (fluorescence, absorption, radiography,...) and particles (ion beam analysis, mass spectrometry, electron microscopy). Typical analysis will be shown in the different fields of the archeology and art heritage (pigment, metal, glass, stone,...). |

Planned learning activities and teaching methods :

| Practical classes will be organized to show the different methods. There will be laboratory visits and testing of some methods. |
