Course contents :  
Part 1: Definition of health economy, objectives and specificities - Analysis of the consumption of health resources, including drugs, and its determinants - Different ways to regulate the supply and demand of health resources - Cost of drug misuse and side effects - Methodology of drug utilisation studies, a practical example - Methodology of pharmacoeconomy studies, practical examples

Part 2 : Hospital pharmacy working standards - Funding of pharmacy activities - Internal and external billing - Method to optimize inventory control and drug purchasing - Drug distribution systems - Associated risks: medication errors and adverse drug events - Ways to achieve quality standards in drug distribution systems.
Learning outcomes of the course :  
Part 1: - Starting from specificities of health resources consumption, including medicines, define the objectives of health economy and pharmacoeconomy.
- Critically analyse the mechanisms and parameters influencing the growth of drug expenditures and the different means developed in most countries to contain it.
- Teach the methodology of drug utilisation analysis and of pharmacoeconomy studies

Part 2: - Define legal tasks of hospital pharmacy services, legal working standards and funding. - Analyse the drug distribution system, identify associated risks and ways to comply with quality standards. - Optimize inventory control of medication and medical devices.
