Course contents :

| Part 1:
Here are the questions raised by many teachers who possibly intend to develop an online teaching space for their course(s):
What is eLearning and what can it add to my teaching practice? Which elements of eLearning can I implement in my course(s) in order to facilitate my students' learning? Is eLearning relevant for the subject matter(s) that I teach? Are there examples and illustrations of eLearning uses in my field? Should eLearning replace my usual teaching methods? Which are my duties as a teacher when my teaching activities take place online?
Part 1 of this course will give elements of answer to such questions.
Part 2:
Part 2 of this course aims at making you discover the basic functions of the eCampus (or Blackboard) platform. For this purpose, you will get an individual test space in order to experiment with online teaching methods at your own pace.
An online teaching space can be much more than just a storage space for lecture notes and presentations. An online teaching space can also be:
- A space which offers to your students interesting learning opportunities by making use of the many functionalities available on the Blackboard platform such as various media (illustrations, sound, animations, videos, interactive contents), glossaries, Web links ...
- A space for discussion (you have the possibility to discuss with your students and/or to let your students discuss among themselves)
- A learning space offering a variety of eLearning activities which make use of various pedagogical strategies and tools (e.g. individual and/or group work ...)
- A space for assessment, self-assessment and peer assessment
- A space for individualized learning offering automated learning pathways based on publication criteria to be selected in advance
|
 |
Learning outcomes of the course :
 |
|
- To give you a general overview of what e-learning is through a range of illustrations of courses and on-line learning activities.
- To allow you to manage the basic functions of the course platform: to transfer and organise your content files, to configure your course's home page, to add/delete/hide content, links, tools
- To allow you to design an online course using the most convenient tools to achieve your learning outcomes.
|
 |
Mode of delivery (face-to-face ; distance-learning) :
 |
| Part 1:
The session ((Séance IFRES : "Découvrir l'eLearning : exemples et illustrations") takes the form of a presentation of different possible pedagogical scenarios of on-line activities, with a view to complementing in-class courses.
These examples and illustrations come from courses in a wide range of disciplines.
Part 2:
Séance "Introduction à eCampus"
The activities consist of challenges to be carried out in a fictional course called "sandbox", created especially for you. You will familiarize yourself with the following actions:
- interface and role management
- file management
- implementation of tools
- course configuration
This session of introduction to elearning is followed by three sessions focusing on basic uses of eCampus tools and functionalities regarding communication and collaboration, contents design, assessment and tracking. Those three sessions are organized according to the same pattern as the introduction session (i.e. they consist of tasks to be performed in an individual test space or "sandbox"). If you are interested to go deeper into elearning, you still have the possibility to enrol for three other specialized sessions afterwards. |

Recommended or required readings :
 |
| On-line notes |
 |
Assessment methods and criteria :
 |
| Drafting a report (2-5 pages) explaining how this course was useful for your own reflection on your classes, what can be transferred and what you have been able to transfer and why (or why not).
The reflective report will be useful for participants wishing to adjust (improve) their own classes. It will be evaluated on the following criteria:
- reference to theoretical elements and experiences covered in class
- the reflexivity (questioning, critical analysis) which the piece of work demonstrates
- format (APA references, respecting instructions, structure, quality of spelling and syntax)
This course amounts to 5% of the end-of-programme grade. A minimum grade of 10 on 20 is required to pass the course.
If you undertake Formasup in 2 years, optional courses with a grade under 10/20 obtained in year 1 cannot be retaken in year 2. |
