Course contents :
Urologic disorders are very common and account for 10% of outpatient consultations to general practitioners. They can arise at any stage of life (urinary lithiasis), be detected ante-natally (congenital diseases); yet, urogenital tumors account for most cases: 35% of all malignant tumurs in men develop in urogenital organs. Urinary problems can also stem from benign conditions: 30% of men suffer from lower urinary tract symptoms due to the dvelopment of benign prostate hyperplasia, and 40% of adult women have continence problems. It is clear therefore that the main protagonists in this teaching session will stand beside the urologist; the pathologist to describe and analyse tissues, in particular tumurs; the radiologist to provide diagnostic and interventional imaging; the paediatrician to look at infant anomalies and functional problems; the pharmacologist to treat disorders in the functioning of the genito-urological system, and the radiotherapist to treat certain oncological problems.
