Course contents :  
With near than 30000 species, fishes are common in quite all aquatic environments. They show metabolic, morphologic but also behavioural adaptation, that make them fascinating to study.
Using works of Liege researchers, we try to give an overview of main evolutionary behaviours :
  • food
  • protection
  • reproduction
  • communication
Learning outcomes of the course :  
Give to students an overview about fish diversity and behavioural ecology, and interest them to a reflexion process about exemples studied by Liege searchers.
Prerequisites and co-requisites/ Recommended optional programme components :  
General knowledge about living organsims and population biology, level Bachelor.
Good command of french language
Mode of delivery (face-to-face ; distance-learning) :  
Four 3 hours lecture, with theoretical overview and presentation of works by our searchers.
Recommended or required readings :  
Powerpoint presentation used during lectures.
Bibliography.
Assessment methods and criteria :  
Preparation of a research project on a theme, discussion about this project.
On basis of photographical documents, we'll also discuss about genral knowledge in ichtyology.
