Lecturer :  Michel Pirotton
Language(s) of instruction :
French language
Course contents :
The following topics in fluid mechanics are covered, both for non-compressible flows: statics, cinematics and dynamics of perfect and real fluids.
Learning outcomes of the course :
Provide the students with strong basic knowledge about the mechanisms governing fluid motion and sollicitations on structures
Prerequisites and co-requisites/ Recommended optional programme components :
The course relies on basic concepts in mathematics and physics.
Planned learning activities and teaching methods :
The course is based on lectures and on the resolution of real problems
Mode of delivery (face-to-face ; distance-learning) :
Theory and exercices alternately
Recommended or required readings :
Slides used during the lectures may be downloaded from hach (http://www.hach.gciv.ulg.ac.be/supportcours).
Assessment methods and criteria :
Handling in practical works reports is obligatory and leads to an individual mark.
A written examination is organized for the whole of the course during the January or September examination period. It counts for a theoretical and exercises parts.
The theoretical examinations are organized without any support while the practical examinations can be solved using the course support.
