Lecturer :  Eric Béchet
Language(s) of instruction :
English language
Course contents :
Implicit, parametric curves and surfaces
Polynomial interpolation and approximation
Mathematical model and geometrical interpretation of Bézier and B-spline curves and surfaces
NURBS curves and sufaces
Mesh generation fundamentals
Use of a CAD software
Learning outcomes of the course :
Curves and suface modeling in CAD software is based on tools that are explained both in theory and practice in this course. The aim of the lectures is to give to the student an opportunity to understand and know how to use adequately these tools, and to know their limts and/or strengths. A part of the lectures is dedicated to mesh generation for the finite element method (CAD-FEM interface). The theoretical part of the course is accompanied by practical exercices on the CATIA CAD software.
Prerequisites and co-requisites/ Recommended optional programme components :
Bachelor in engineering
Planned learning activities and teaching methods :
Ex-cathedra lectures Practice on the CATIA CAD sofware Programming project
Mode of delivery (face-to-face ; distance-learning) :
Face-to-face & autonomous (project)
Assessment methods and criteria :
Catia Software(20%) Programming project (30%) Final exam (50%) These three items are compulsory and have to be satisfied independently with marks over 10/20 for each of them.
