Knowledge of the basic notions of modern semantics and ability to apply them to solve precise problems.

Planned learning activities and teaching methods :
Some exercises will be prepared at home and corrected in class.

Master students who take the course in a "finalité approfondie" will have additional texts to read (including texts in English).

30 hours;
2nd semester;
See http://cipl82.philo.ulg.ac.be/horaires
Recommended or required readings :
Lecture notes for part of the course. Chapters of various books will have to be read; in particular: Anna Wierzbicka: Semantics - Primes and Universals.
Assessment methods and criteria :
Written examination (as a rule, the aim of the questions is to check the student's understanding and ability to apply).
June
Organizational remarks :
An active participation of the students is expected (questions or comments on the lecture notes, looking for concrete examples, etc.).
