Course contents :  
Study of various topics regarding the way Latin language functions synchronically from Plautus to Tacitus (from various points of view : lexicon, phonology, morphology, syntax, pragmatics, etc.), based on scientific papers reading and discussion of grammatical models (a memorization and an active knowledge of those models are required) . The various linguistic descriptions will be tested by confrontation with text data, with the help of all the resources of the contemporary linguistics (functionnal grammar, text linguistics, multidisciplinary approaches to discourse, text data analysis, natural langage processing, etc.).
Learning outcomes of the course :  
In the end of the course, the student will be familiarized with research methods in the field of synchonic linguistics and will be able to use them to study various Latin linguistic topics.
Prerequisites and co-requisites/ Recommended optional programme components :  
Bachelor in Ancient languages and literatures, classical orientation, or equivalent knowledge.
