Course contents :  
This seminar offers training in scientific research. It covers the actual aspects linked to the production of a scientific work: elaboration and critical evaluation of a bibliography, assembly and study of ancient sources (literary texts, inscriptions, papyri...), development of a work plan, final editing.
Learning outcomes of the course :  
The seminar will include: 1. Regular presentation and sharing of results of student research (oral presentation of the current state of a project, description of problems encountered); 2. Participation (including written reports) in scientific activities within the university and outside it; 3. Writing and editing for publication in a scientific journal of some critical reviews of recent work in the area chosen by the student, on in an ancillary field ; 4. Specific research work leading to completion of an end-of-studies paper; 5. Production of a scientific article (suitable for publication) on the topic of the student's end-of-studies paper or on a more specific topic that would not be covered in the main end-of-studies work, or else the production of a communication to be issued at a colloquium that sums up the results of the student's research.
Prerequisites and co-requisites/ Recommended optional programme components :  
Bachelor's level abilities in ancient languages and literature, classics orientation.

Assessment methods and criteria :  
The overall final grade will reflect the grade given on various assignments (oral and written) made during the seminar.
