Course contents :
 |
| Study of various topics regarding the way Latin language functions synchronically and changes diachronically during the Antiquity (syntactical functions, problems of word formation, stylistics, etc.), based on scientific papers reading, discussion of grammatical models (a memorization and an active knowledge of those models are required) and cursory reading of a Latin author. The reading, the translation and the grammatical comment of this author are prepared at home, but some aspects of the language of the author will be pointed out during the course, with the help of all the resources of the contemporary philology (databanks, new linguistic frameworks, etc.).
The courses also includes the study of archaic, vulgar or late Latin texts, as well as exercises of grammatical commentary, translation and prose |

Learning outcomes of the course :

| In the end of the course, the student will be familiarized with a methodological reflection on various linguistic and stylistic topics and with research methods; he will also improve his translation skills, from Latin to french and from french to Latin. |
