Course contents :  
This class will make students familiar with the documentation that any student of Greek and Latin will have to use. Secondly, there will be an introduction into reading ancient books (papyri, manuscripts and inscriptions).
Learning outcomes of the course :  
Initiating students in classical philology.
Prerequisites and co-requisites/ Recommended optional programme components :  
None. Some reading knowledge of Latin and Greek for the reading exercises during the second semester.
Planned learning activities and teaching methods :  
Additional exercises organised by an advanced student.
Recommended or required readings :  
The electronic version of Jacques Poucet - Jean-Marie Hannick, Guide bibliographique, the BCS (Bibliotheca Classica Selecta, on-line http://bcs.fltr.ucl.ac.be/). A printed selection can be bought at the beginning of the academic year. During spring term, a second syllabus and several web pages will be used.
