| Survey of the history and the typology of the Latin writing, from the Antiquity to the 15th century, based upon Roman documents and literary manuscripts. |

| Survey of the history of the ancient Greek alphabet, early books (with a short introduction to codicology) and libraries. Typology of the ancient Greek writing, with reference to the cultural impact of writing in the ancient Greek civilization. |
