Course contents :  
- self-study based on the textbook 'Nieuwe Start 1, néerlandais professionnel, niveau de base; éd. De Boeck' - Study of the:
  • basic structures of the grammar of the Dutch language
  • basic vocabulary of the Dutch language (+/- 1000 most frequent words)
- 10 pedagogic files consisting of:
  • exercises of listening and reading comprehension
  • lexical and grammatical exercises
  • several written works
Learning outcomes of the course :  
  • Being able to use Dutch as an everyday language as well as the basic structures of the Dutch language.
  • Focus on the four language skills: listening and reading comprehension, writing expression and, to a lesser extent, oral expression.
  • Being able to use the communicative functions relative to the themes of study and work (greeting and introducing oneself, talking about one's schedule, one's job, one's hobbies, making appointments, ordering a meal...)
  • Level to be reached: A1 of the CEFRL (level A2 for the students who wish to take the course 'niveau avancé' in BAC 2
Prerequisites and co-requisites/ Recommended optional programme components :  
None.
Mode of delivery (face-to-face ; distance-learning) :  
  • Study of the basic vocabulary and grammar with online feedback
  • Exercises with online feedback
  • Self-study with the textbook 'Nieuwe Start 1, néerlandais professionnel, niveau de base ; éd. De Boeck'. The small dialogues and texts of the book will put the student in a professionnal situation.
  • 4 two-hour tutorials in the form of questions and answers, during which the student have the opportunity to practice oral expression.
Recommended or required readings :  
Assessment methods and criteria :  
1) Formative test organised during one of the tutorials.
2) written exam in June in the form of open questions/true or false/MCQ relating to:
  • the basic vocabulary and the specialised vocabulary of professional life
  • grammar
  • reading comprehension
  • listening comprehension
