Course contents :  
This workshop comprises three parts:

1. Epistemics and scientific approach
  • An attempt to classify the various types of sciences
  • What makes something scientific? Scientificity criteria.
  • The position of the scientific approach

2. Research methodology
  • Specificities linked to researching management sciences
  • Sources and resources linked to management sciences

3. Official standards for scientific work
  • Various standards and uses
  • Usual standards in the case of management sciences
Learning outcomes of the course :  
  • To develop a critical mind
  • To learn to choose the appropriate method
  • To understand the meaning of "scientific accuracy"
Prerequisites and co-requisites/ Recommended optional programme components :  
  • Mastering the target language
Mode of delivery (face-to-face ; distance-learning) :  
Teaching methods used for each part of the workshop:
  • A first presentation and a second one to be criticised
  • Texts and resources put at the disposal of the students
  • One theme to develop more specifically
  • Research to be carried out
  • Individual report to hand in

Notes put on line
Assessment methods and criteria :  
Continuous assessment (attendance and quality of interventions), quality and relevance of the reports. In case of failure in June, the student will have to hand in extra written work and give an oral presentation.
