Course contents :  
Chronospatial reasoning of events and major processes. Fine typologic analysis and specific diagnostic criteria: - geological and geomorphological context, - distribution and morphosequential relations, - genesis and characteristics, - use and recommandations. Comparative study of the principal systems of world classifications (French, FAO-WRB, USDA). Numerous personal examples including for Overseas from Algeria, Guinea, La Martinique, Chine....
Learning outcomes of the course :  
To deepen the understanding of pedogenetical factors and of soil typology to better diagnose and so, to better manage the contraints and suitabilities while offering an idea about a more specific field of research.
After completing the course the student is expected to
- situate the main soil types of the World in their pedogenetical context,
- comment their main characteristics and properties,
- deduce the consequences in terms of practical management,
- understand and use the main international soil classifications, namely the WRB (FAO).
