Course contents :  
(1) carbonate diagenesis (mineralogy and petrology of carbonate minerals, diagenetic sequences). Methods include petrography, cathodoluminescence, isotopic geochemistry.



(2) Sedimentary basin analysis (sequential analyses, sedimentary models).
Learning outcomes of the course :  
(1) Recognition and interpretation of a diagenetic sequence. Use of cathodoluminescence and isotopic geochemistry.

(2) Interpretation of a sedimentary bassin, specially in terms of sea-level variations.
Prerequisites and co-requisites/ Recommended optional programme components :  
Sedimentary petrology.
Planned learning activities and teaching methods :  
Lectures with slides. Study of thin sections of carbonate rocks.
Mode of delivery (face-to-face ; distance-learning) :  
Face-to-face. Lectures and practical work in B18/B20.
