| Historical background. Species and populations. Role of the natural selection. Speciation. Punctuated equilibrium or phyletic gradualism? Fossil record. Ontogenesis and phylogenesis. Heterochrony . Exemples of specific evolution from the fossil record. Macroevolution. Genetic evolution. Morphological limits of the diversification. Conclusions. |

The course is on Thursday from 2 to 4 pm, during the first period. Lecture room is in building B18, Sart Tilman (animal palaeontology, department of geology). It will start Thursday 22 September. |
