Course contents :  
Part I : Inland waterways : - Hydraulics structures in waterways : navigation control weirs, lock navigation , hydro-electricity, fish passes, - Multipurpose Use of the waterways : cargoes, tourism, irrigation,.. - Link with water resource management. Upper reach of canal (water saving basins) - River versus canal - Fish passes - Basic knowledge in river engineering : bank protection, ... - Dredging and treatment of the dredged materials
Part II: Hydraulic structures (in continuation of GCIV2040-1 : "Hydraulic structures") - Fixed dams - Floating structures
The lecture included seminars given by external professionals (from Ministry of Transport and other universities)
Prerequisites and co-requisites/ Recommended optional programme components :  
Basic knowledge in hydraulic structures (e.g. GCIV2065-1 : "Hydraulic structures")
Planned learning activities and teaching methods :  
The course includes practical works/exercises. Written works (reports) are marked.
Mode of delivery (face-to-face ; distance-learning) :  
Organized from September to January. 3h classes a week and 4 days of personal work to achieve the exercices/reports.

Assessment methods and criteria :  
Practical work are marked (50%)
An oral examination (50%)
