Course contents :  
The objective of this course is to give basic knowledge on tropical ecosystems: phytogeography, origin, evolution, threats and management. It is divided in 6 chapters:

1. Bioclimatology 2. Description of the main vegetation types: moist forests, dry forests, woodlands, grasslands, mangroves 3. Distribution of the main vegetation types 4. Vegetation of Africa 5. Human impacts 6. Sustainable management
Learning outcomes of the course :  
After completing the course the student is expected to: . be able to describe the main vegetation types; . be able to identify the major threats; . be able to suggest adapted management.
Prerequisites and co-requisites/ Recommended optional programme components :  
Basic knowledge on ecology and botany required.
Mode of delivery (face-to-face ; distance-learning) :  
Face-to-face and many discussions with students who have to share their experiences.
