Course contents :  
The course will include two parts; the first part will present the theoretical and practical aspects of the water treatment by the extensive systems and the second part will present the valorisation of treated wastewaters in agriculture.

First part:
- Treatment System for drinking water production
- Origin and characterization of wastewaters in the developing counties
- The physico-chemical and microbiological parameters
- The main extensive treatment systems
- The technical aspects
- The design of the extensive treatment systems

Second part
- Component in wastewaters in relation with the reuse of treated wastewaters in agriculture
- The reuse guidelines
- The irrigation methods to apply treated wastewater
- Impact of the reuse of wastewater on the environment and the human health
- Effects on the cultures.
Learning outcomes of the course :  
The objective is to give the knowledge and the capacities to understand and to analyze the challenge of the water production for the populations and agriculture and to contribute to a respectful development of the environment by the setting up of low cost wastewater treatment systems.
After completing the course the student is expected to
to design low cost wastewater treatment systems with the objective to reuse the treated wastewater in agriculture and for the environment protection.
