| ENVT2018-1 | Treatment and domestic wastewater and industrial water production for industry

| Duration : | 36h Th, 36h Pr |
| Number of credits : |
| Lecturer : | Jean‑Luc Vasel |
Language(s) of instruction :
| French language |

Course contents :
| Course given 1° semester. Water treatment (drinking/ industry). biologicalWastewater treatment are studied by a "Unit Processes" approach |
Learning outcomes of the course :
| The course is aiming at providing knowledges about the main steps of water treatment, how to operate those facilities and how to design the main equipments |
Prerequisites and co-requisites/ Recommended optional programme components :
| Basics in Chemistry (Acid/base, redox, stoechiometry,..), physics, microbiology, and data processing;
Knowledge of Excel |
Planned learning activities and teaching methods :
| The main processes are studied theoretically and by practical tests done by the students, including data processing and calculations.
Practical parts of biological treatments are done by tests on full scale facilities |
Mode of delivery (face-to-face ; distance-learning) :
| 1° semester . Practical training follows the theory as soon as possible. Each practical test is described in a document provided to the students before the tests. The course is divided into 2 parts : water treatment (drinking/ industry) and biological waste water treatment . Practical part is focusing on thelast parts. Group reports are asked to the students. |
Recommended or required readings :
| Power Points copies to the students. Those files are also store annually on the intranet. "Students tasks" files are also provided before practical tests. |
Assessment methods and criteria :
| Each subpart (2) is evaluated separately: 1/3 for practical training reports and 2/3 for theory (Oral examination) |
