Course contents :

| The purpose of this course is to familiarize students with basic economic mechanisms by analyzing individual behaviour (microeconomics) and general behaviour (macroeconomics). Special attention is given to their applications for future engineers. The course covers topics in the following two areas: Microeconomic approach: theory of demand, theory of production and costs, perfect competition, monopoly and price discrimination, oligopoly and monopolistic competition.· Macroeconomic approach: national accounting, consumption and investment, national income equilibrium, budgetary policy, international trade, balance of payments, economics of exchange rates, aggregate demand and supply, unemployment and inflation. |

Learning outcomes of the course :

| The student must be able:
- to explain and to analyse individual (microeconomics) and general (macroeconomics) behaviour;
- to understand the relations between the main economic variables. . |
