Course contents :  
The class begins with an introduction whose purpose is to set the matter of property and real rights within the Belgian legal system. Then, from the basic distinction of things and rights into chattels and real estates and from the fundamental notions of possession and detention, the subjects of property, co-ownership, usufruct, easements, surface right and emphyteusis are succinctly addressed. During the course, the notion of real estate is especially pointed out.
Learning outcomes of the course :  
The aim of the class is to provide the students with a few notions in real estate and ¿main¿ real rights in a civil law approach. Priority is given to issues arising from actual practice.
Prerequisites and co-requisites/ Recommended optional programme components :  
None.
Mode of delivery (face-to-face ; distance-learning) :  
Eight evening lessons of 2 hours, during the second semester.

Assessment methods and criteria :  
oral exam in january of august-september.Codes and other legal dispositions are necessary
