Course contents :  
In 2010-2011 there will be two sections to this course. The first section will be based on a social theory of discourse and in-depth analysis of a range of commentary or editorial articles. It aims to shed light upon the rhetorical and pragmatical mechanisms governing them. The second section, which will more actively involve the students, will consist in data gathering about the belgian editorialists.
Learning outcomes of the course :  
This course takes the form of an intensive research seminar covering a range of press articles but also books about the press. It will not only encourage an in-depth analysis of the mechanisms behind journalistic discourse, but also gives students the methodological training for drafting their final dissertation.
