Course contents :

| Compared to the Partim 1, the lectures deepen some notions in Fortran and introduce the students to the shell BASH on Linux and the graphic tool Ferret used to plot the model outputs as well as the climate data set (e.g.: the reanalysis). Only the elements of Fortran/Linux used in climatology will be teach. |

Learning outcomes of the course :

| The lectures aim to familiarize the students to some computer tools (Linux, Fortran and Ferret) used to process the climate data and, to run and analyze the climate models. |

Planned learning activities and teaching methods :

| The exercises asked every week will be mainly do during the tutorials where the teacher will be present to help the students. |

Mode of delivery (face-to-face ; distance-learning) :

| This course is based on the concept "project-based learning" i.e. every week, the student has to resolve a programming exercises for the next week. The theoretical basis will be teach in the previous lecture. |

Assessment methods and criteria :
|
| Each student has to resolve on a computer a small problem using Fortran, Linux and Ferret.
Three evaluated exercices (2h) will be proposed to the students as well as a mock exam (4h). The part of these ones will be 25% in the final evaluation. |
