1) Chemical properties of amino acids and of the polypeptide chain
1.1 Nature of the polypeptide chain

1.4 Determination of the protein size
1.5 Determination of the aminoacid sequence
1.6 Chemical synthesis of peptides
1.7 Non ribosomal synthesis of peptides
1.8 Post transcription modification of the polypeptide chain
2) Mechanism of protein localization in prokaryotes and eukaryotes
3) Interactions affecting the properties of proteins
3.1 Nature of non covalent interactions
3.2 Intramolecular interactions
4) Conformational properties of proteins
4.1 Secondary and ternary structures of proteins
4.2 Spectroscopic properties od proteins in solution
5) Biophysical properties of soluble and membranar properties
6) Protein-ligand interactions
7) Introduction to enzyme catalysis 7.1. General properties of enzymes 7.2 Steady-state kinetics 7.3. Enzyme inhibition
Learning outcomes of the course :  
The first part of the course will be devoted to the structural and chemical properties of proteins. The second part consists in an introduction to enzyme catalysis
Prerequisites and co-requisites/ Recommended optional programme components :  
Lectures in genral biochemistry
Thermodynamic and classical physic
Organic chemistry
Planned learning activities and teaching methods :  
40 h of practical course, dedicated to protein purification and enzyme catalysis
Mode of delivery (face-to-face ; distance-learning) :  
30 lessons of 2 hours

Written + oral examination

A minimal note of 8/20 will be requested for the two parts of the course
