| The Structure 3 course continues to be aimed at general architectural training. It takes place over two terms.
In consists of looking in-depth at subjects covered in the Structure 1 and 2 course and looks at new information relating to:
- the principles of external and internal balance in increasingly complex structural systems, moving towards dimensioning more complete structural entities. These should be close to the types of structures seen in the 3rd year workshop projects.
- the use of concrete from a technological perspective and reinforced concrete from a technological and structural perspective (materials not covered in 1st and 2nd Bac)
- The use of very rough pre-dimensioning formulae applied to the main types of materials used in structures - steel, wood and reinforced concrete;
- resolving exercises on rapid load drops, enabling an understanding above all of the order of scale of loads as applied to elements of construction.
- Raising awareness of geometrical and structural relationships in architectural composition diagrams in an intuitive way, in particular in terms of the main bracing elements and their combined structural properties;
- an intuitive analysis of identifiable structural systems in 3rd Bac architectural projects and their respective capacities in terms of architectural project construction and expression.
The course is split between theory classes, the resolution of exercises and participation in the last sessions of the 2nd term of workshop projects in partnership with the construction course. |
