Course contents :
| On the one hand, new information and communication technologies radically change our behaviour and our relationship to the urban landscape. On the other hand, through the use of various tools, they shape the way that architects and town planners act towards the urban landscape.
This course addresses the reciprocal influence which the penetration of digital and information technology has had on society, as well as new ways of dealing with the landscape through town planning and architecture. |
Learning outcomes of the course :
| 1. To provide students with the theoretical foundations to enable them to understand the impact of digital technology on contemporary society, and more specifically our relationship with the urban landscape.
2. To offer students a series of tools relevant to the work of the architect and town planner. This involves presenting different data bases, software and tools related to the urban landscape and to demonstrate how objective data can be collated and used within the context of the profession or a piece of thematic research.
A secondary objective of this approach consists of developing students' critical ability in terms of the evolution of cutting edge technology in our society, as well as being aware of objectivity and rigour in the collation and processing of data. The question of methodology will be broadly addressed. |
