The town: - two recurring models / - "overmodernity", centralised towns, diffuse, "emerging" / nature - artefact / - situationist towns, a structure for wandering (CONSTANT) / - generic town (OMA, Rem Koolhaas)
The countryside: from "picturesque" to cloning fragments of nature, implanting enzymes!
The concrete of the built environment: "99% sweat, 1% inspiration." Heinrich Tessenow
The constructive / phenomena and perception |
Learning outcomes of the course :
| The aim is to grasp the process of "projection", which automatically includes, simultaneously, theoretical speculation and concrete practice. It is through the project process, itself, that things develop and take on meaning (when all goes to plan). It is through work on the material definition of the project that things manifest themselves or are made apparent. |
Prerequisites and co-requisites/ Recommended optional programme components :
| The history of architecture and art (simultaneously). Particularly in the 19th and the 20th century.
General history of the town and town planning. |
Mode of delivery (face-to-face ; distance-learning) :
| Lectures with slide shows and videos.
Textual analysis.
- a typical workshop: a writing workshop rather than "workshop" / writing in its broadest sense.
- "tasting" rather than speculation ...
