Course contents :  
Introduction to the intangible cultural heritage : definition, history, institutions and methodology to conduct an inquiry

Presentation of the different involved fields : oral expressions (languages/ songs/ legends), performing arts (music/ dance/ puppets theatre), rituals ans social practices (festivals/ games/ devoutness) and traditional knowledges (handycrafts/ alimentation/ medecine)
Learning outcomes of the course :  
Make clear the notion of intangible cultural heritage, regarding to, as example, the situation in Wallonia

Explain its importance and the social stakes
Prerequisites and co-requisites/ Recommended optional programme components :  
None
Planned learning activities and teaching methods :  
Each student must inquire in a specific field of the intangible cultural heritage. He may choose his witnesses.
For this following year, we'll focus on traditional games and sports.
Mode of delivery (face-to-face ; distance-learning) :  
30 hours


Every Monday, from September 19th to December 19th 2011, 11am - 1pm.
Recommended or required readings :  
Every week, after the lesson, the student 'll receive notes on line.

This is free of charge but student must have an e-mail individual address

Oral evaluation on lessons contents and assessment on the personal inquiry report
