Course contents :

| - Organization and functioning of the educational system of the French-speaking Community of Belgium, its institutions and its policies: reference legislative texts and statistical tools, decisional levels, evolution of the models of operation.
- Lighting on the positioning of the French-speaking Community of Belgium in the comparative studies of school output (IEA and PISA).
- Meetings with representatives of the main trade unions. |

Learning outcomes of the course :

| - To take note of the educational policies and the current organization of the education system in the French-speaking Community of Belgium.
- To seek, to look for a legal text relating to the educational system.
- To read and interprete statistical data about the educational system.
- To Understand and criticize the school institution thank to elements of the near past and linked to the evolution of the societal context.
- To understand its teacher's position and engagement. The awakening and the analysis of the multiple constraints which influence the teaching, not to discourage the teachers, should enable them to better identify their space of freedom and action. |

Planned learning activities and teaching methods :

| The course, given in a hall, is made up talks, questions and answers supported by Power-Point slides. It suggests questions relative
- to yourself in your teacher's job (your rights and your duties). For example: According to the educationnal network you work for, who will be your employer?
Which will be your legal and a dministrative status, your career evolution ? How will your relationships to the Inspection be declined? Which precautions to take to avoid the appeals?
- to the part that you can play as a social change actor. For example:
Which are the potential consequences, for the incomes of some pupils, of the reorientation opinions given at the staff meetings?
The setting of the answers will be based on the analysis of legal reference texts(especially the "Decree-Missions"), structure and functioning of the educational system. It will be lit by history elements of our school system (to understand the evolution in our system) and by a comparative prospect. |
